Production
Prioritize Digital Signage
We minimize our environmental impact by reducing printed materials and opting for digital signage wherever possible. Paper alone accounts for 26% of all landfill waste. If printing is needed, we choose a design and material that can be reused and upcycled! Adopt the mantra: "Digital if powered by renewable energy, printed if reusable."
Branding With Impact
All branding at The Impact Hub has a purpose beyond aesthetics. Our fonts are eco-friendly and designed to reduce ink usage, saving 18% of ink due to their bite-size holes, soft curves, and airy shapes. Additionally, the logo of The Impact Hub contributes to cancer research, supporting efforts to find a cure.
Local and Sustainable Decor
All decor at The Impact Hub is sourced from local artisans, supporting the local economy and reducing transportation emissions. Our space integrates the natural environment directly into our centerpieces and decor. Unlike cut flowers, which account for 68% of production from the Netherlands and involve significant travel emissions and refrigeration, we opt for sustainable alternatives. These include sand-filled vases, aesthetic fresh fruits, reusable baskets, and plants with longer shelf lives. We prioritize sustainability by ensuring items like sand-filled vases are returned and reused, minimizing our environmental impact.
Recycle and Upcycle
Along with sourcing locally, all decor and signage at The Impact Hub can be returned or reused, effectively minimizing environmental impact. For instance, the plant holders and donation bin seen in The Impact Hub are created from the 2022 Impact Hub By Givsly banner. Similarly, the banners seen on the 802 balcony will be repurposed into tote bags and a new donation bin, further promoting sustainability within our space.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
75-Mile Menu
All ingredients on The Impact Hub menu are sourced from within a 75-mile radius. Buying local, seasonal produce helps reduce carbon emissions by shortening the journey from farm to table. This also supports local agriculture, the economy, and you! Research has shown that fruits and vegetables can be at their peak nutrient density when in season. Peaches, cherries, figs, apricots, and summer squash are all local this time of year!
Meatless Menus
The Impact Hub offers a menu consisting entirely of delicious plant-based options, crafted from fresh, local ingredients so flavorful you won't miss the meat! Meat production, especially beef, generates significant greenhouse gas emissions, with beef being the biggest offender at 60kg of emissions per kilogram produced. By offering meatless menus, we help lower the overall carbon footprint of our events. Meatless menus accommodate more diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, making our event space more inclusive.
No Single Use Plastic
From glassware and stainless steel cutlery to compostable bamboo plates, all tableware at The Impact Hub is sustainable. Each year, 50% of the 380 million tonnes of plastic produced is for single-use purposes, and only 9% of that gets recycled. Additionally, the carbon emissions from plastic manufacturing contribute 1.8 billion tons annually, making the environmental effects of single-use plastic even more detrimental. By using items that can be reused daily or turned into fertilizer, we're not only supporting the environment but also saving on the budget otherwise spent on single-use items that end up as conference waste.
No Food Waste Space
The Impact Hub is committed to sustainability by having no food waste - all food is composted to local organic farms for fertilizer. Additionally, unused leftovers are sent to local food banks and individuals on the streets in Cannes.

TRAVEL & TRANSPORT
Use Local Vendors
We exclusively use local vendors and third-party suppliers based in Cannes. By choosing local vendors, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also contribute to a stronger, more resilient community, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability in every aspect of our operations.
Staff Travel
For events like the Cannes Lions International Festival, we recognize travel is essential, but we take steps to minimize its impact. We prioritize economy class travel over first or business class, as flying business class produces three times more CO2 emissions per passenger. Additionally, we offset all emissions generated from travel to and from the festival, ensuring our footprint is minimized as we participate in this global event.

ENERGY
Digital Signage Solutions
Our sustainable impact extends beyond using digital signage. The branding features a black background and pale yellow text, selected for its minimal energy consumption. LED signage offers an energy-efficient and waste-free alternative to traditional methods.
Lighting and Energy Efficiency
LED screens use 90% less energy than traditional counterparts, allowing them to last on average 60,000 to 100,000 hours of use. Additionally, we power off all lights, AC units, and other items each night to further reduce our footprint.

RESPONSIBLE MARKETING
Rethink Swag
The Impact Hub is a swag-free event space! We're not against swag, but the reality is only 21% of swag items are kept, so we are concerned about these items that end up in landfills! To combat this waste, we offer guests a place to deposit unwanted items, which are then donated directly to local community organizations. Instead of swag, visitors can opt to support a nonprofit cause they're passionate about, helping us reduce conference waste (where 40% of swag ends up) and make a real impact for important causes.
