THE IMPACT HUB BY GIVSLY
The Impact Hub by Givsly is an interactive space where we and our partners collaborate on responsible, purpose-driven marketing solutions. Recognizing that the events industry contributes approximately 10% of global carbon emissions, we are committed to mitigating these impacts at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Discover the straightforward yet impactful steps we take to curate a sustainable event space that reduces carbon emissions and champions environmental stewardship.

PRODUCTION PRACTICES
Design With Responsibility in Mind.
Prioritizing Digital Over Print
We minimize our environmental footprint by prioritizing digital signage over printed materials. Since paper accounts for 26% of landfill waste, we adopt the principle: “Digital if powered by renewable energy, printed only if reusable.” When print is necessary, we select materials and designs that can be reused or upcycled to extend their lifecycle.
Purpose-Driven Branding
At The Impact Hub, every branding choice reflects our values. Our custom fonts are eco-conscious, designed to reduce ink usage by 18% through thoughtful design details like perforations and light curves. Even our logo serves a greater purpose—supporting cancer research through a design that gives back.
Local, Low-Impact Decor
Our space tells a story of sustainability. All décor is sourced from local artisans, reducing transport emissions and supporting the regional economy. Instead of short-lived cut flowers, we use long-lasting elements like fresh fruits, plants, reusable baskets, and sand-filled vases—all selected for minimal environmental impact and maximum reusability.
Recycle. Reuse. Repurpose.
Sustainability is embedded in every detail, down to the donation bins. Plant holders and décor are created from repurposed materials like banners from previous years’ Impact Hubs. Even signage from our 802 balcony will live on as tote bags and upcycled containers. It's design that gives waste a second life.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Thoughtful Choices for a Healthier Planet.
The 75-Mile Menu
All ingredients are locally sourced within a 75-mile radius, supporting area farmers and minimizing transportation emissions. Seasonal produce not only boosts nutritional value—it connects our guests with the freshest flavors of the region, from summer squash to stone fruits.
Meatless, Mindful Menus
We proudly serve plant-based meals made with intention and packed with flavor. Plant-based dining significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions and also creates an inclusive experience across dietary, cultural, and religious preferences. It’s better for the planet—and for everyone at the table.
Ditching Single-Use Plastics
From compostable bamboo plates to reusable glassware and cutlery, The Impact Hub is completely free of single-use plastics. With only 9% of plastic waste actually recycled and 1.8 billion tons of emissions produced annually by plastic manufacturing, our approach is simple: reduce, reuse, and rethink the standard.
No Food Wasted
We operate a zero-food-waste space. All leftover food is either composted at local organic farms or donated to food banks and individuals experiencing homelessness in Cannes. Every plate is served with purpose and ends with impact.

TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATION
Reducing Emissions from the Ground Up.
Local Partners
By working exclusively with Cannes-based vendors and third-party suppliers, we not only reduce emissions but support a circular local economy. Our events are powered by partnerships that prioritize proximity and shared values.
Responsible Staff Travel
While global events require travel, we approach it with care. We prioritize economy class for reduced emissions and offset the carbon footprint of all Givsly team travel to and from Cannes. It’s our responsibility to show up thoughtfully.

ENERGY USE
Smarter, Cleaner Solutions.
Energy-Efficient Signage
Our digital signage features low-energy colors—black backgrounds and pale yellow text—selected specifically for their minimal energy demands. LED displays use up to 90% less energy and offer significantly longer life spans, reducing waste and electricity usage alike.
Sustainable Operations
Every night, lights, AC units, and equipment are powered down to conserve energy. These small but consistent choices add up to a major reduction in our footprint over the course of the event.

RESPONSIBLE MARKETING
Making Every Moment Count.
Swag With Purpose—or None at All
The Impact Hub is intentionally swag-free. With only 21% of conference swag kept and 40% ending up as waste, we offer guests more meaningful options: donate to a nonprofit cause instead, or place unused items in our donation drop for redistribution to local organizations. Impact over impulse.
TOOLS TO START YOUR OWN SUSTAINABLE EVENT JOURNEY
Starting can feel overwhelming—but every small step matters. Givsly partnered with Ad Net Zero and other leaders in the space to develop a Sustainable Events Starter Guide that breaks down how to create more environmentally responsible event experiences.
